What doll do you regret passing up?

Not too long ago,
I asked "What doll do you regret selling?"

And a few of the responses have prompted me to wonder:

What doll do you regret passing up?

You know, that doll that you *could* have gotten...
it was available, right there in front of you,
be it for preorder, or from another collector, etc...

but for whatever reason you passed on it.

For me, it's Volks' Jun Tachibana.

I had *JUST* discovered BJDs when Haute Doll magazine had their exclusive Jun and Isao release, and I looked at the prices on those dolls and almost fainted dead-away.

I *could* have ordered her.
I didn't, because of sticker shock.

I have kicked myself for forever and a day since.
I would call her my "Grail Doll" if I were to name a doll that...
and she'd have to be fully default too (except maybe the faceup, I might forgive a changed faceup if her new one was awesome).

I even sought out and bought little YoSD Jun Tachibana as a consolation...
but every time I see that Haute Doll Exclusive Jun,
I really, really, really wish I'd bitten the bullet and ordered her!

How about you?
Who is your "missed opportunity"?

(On a side note, I'd love the SD Graffiti Jun as well... I think it would be so cute to have the SD, SD Graffiti and YoSD Jun collection XD)

Murasaki.me Review

Momo: Oh! Hello everyone! Uhm... I don't think we've met...
my name is Momo, I'm pretty new around here, but, uhm, I hope you'll like me!
So, uhm, this review is a little different from other ones we've had.
This one is for 1/3 scale dolls (Barbie and Azone Pure Neemos are 1/6 scale)
I hope you'll enjoy it!

We are going to partake in 3 days of fun!
Day 1 (today!!)
of this Murasaki.me bonanza is going to be a product review!
The next three days (including today) of excitement will break down like this:
Day 1: Product Review
Day 2: Interview with Kuraikawai, the talent behind Murasaki.me
Day 3: GIVEAWAY!!!! (It's so cute I don't want to give it away ;_; )
I recently purchased a long sleeved shirt from
Murasaki.me and it's the best fitting shirt ever to be worn around here!!!
It has Danny Choo's Moekana Mirai character on it in a Kimono.
One thing you'll learn tomorrow... Kuraikawai has teamed up with some awesome artists to give us really super cute printed t-shirts!!!
Let's take a look at some pictures!

Momo: So let's start at the top! I am super impressed with the tiny neck hem, and the even, lovely stitching on these shirts! Knit fabrics are hard to sew so small, and this shirt is impeccably sewn!!
Have I mentioned this little bow clip came with my shirt too?

Momo: Closer look! The decal is one of those nice ones that is waterproof, so it's not going to get blotchy if a raindrop drops on it (Heather has had this happen with another brand, an expensive brand cough*jadenesscouture*cough and she was none too happy about it.)
It also does well stretching over my head and other body bits... it didn't tear or split or any of those nasty things that can happen with cheap iron-on decals... this product is QUALITY!

Momo: The back of the shirt is well fitted and perfect! (please disregard the little bit of lumpiness you see... I'm, er... wearing a bra -_-;; )

Momo: The sleeves are AWESOME! They're well fitted... but still allow for easy flowing movement.
You really couldn't ask for better sleeve design!

Momo: I can move all around, into many different poses, and the shirt keeps its awesome fit! The sleeves don't ride up, and neither does the hem... it's an amazingly crafted shirt... so... in conclusion...

Momo: BEST SHIRT EVER!! For serious!
Make sure you tune in tomorrow for a really awesome interview!!!!
Seriously, after talking to Kuraikawai, she's so sweet that I want to buy even more shirts from her... not just because they're awesome, but because she's awesome too!
(fyi, "for serious" means "Totally" or "I'm totally serious about what I just said!")

Maybe you'd like to order your own shirt?
(trust me, there are SO MANY awesome designs to choose from!)

Check out Murasaki.me's shop here:
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Here is Murasaki.me's image of the item I purchased:
This one is from the moekana line, but there are also other great lines to choose from,
here's a sampling:

The Danny Choo brand XD
This will be the official t-shirt of his Mirai doll!

Making Clothes

I recently got a new sewing machine,
so clothes making mode has been achieved!

First up is Robin

She's wearing a dress that I made, soon to have accessories
like a necklace and headband...
maybe some bracelets too.

Robin: Don't you think this needs a necklace? I think it does.
(The dress can be pulled up a little, of course, to be less revealing, lol)

Robin: It's cute and summery, though... I like it!
Me: Thanks Robin :) (because her opinion certainly isn't biased, haha!)

Next up is Jun,
she is a Dollfie Dream Rise
modeling a long-sleeved shirt I'm working on.

Jun: Oh, hey folks.
Me: Jun! You're supposed to be modeling!! -_-;;
Jun: Like this?
Me: Well... yeah... not the most natural pose, but ok.

Jun: Well, are we talking "Natural for me" pose?
Me: Yeah!
Jun: Ok!

Jun: Wooohoo! This is great, right?!
Me: Maybe I should have thought that through a bit more...
This tomboy should not be given a skirt -_-;;

Anyways, this is what I've worked on so far... the shirt still needs tweaking,
This red one is a prototype (first time trying out the pattern I made),
but for a first try, not too shabby!!

Obligitory New Doll Wig Change Shots

So, I can't remember if I mentioned this when I first posted pics of
the Bluefairy Olive who's come to live here...

but her default wig SUCKS.
I mean, it's cute as heck...
but literally comes to a point on the top.
W.T.F. 0_0

Needless to say, this is one of three wigs I'm trying out on her.
What do you think?

Also, should I keep her name as Olive, or change it to something new?

Limited Edition White Skin Bluefairy Minoruworld Olive

This little girl is just so pretty...
She's a limited edition White Skin Olive made by bluefairy/minoruworld...
her default outfit is a little witch outfit that I'll have to take pics of her in.
I've traded out her plastic eyes for custom made Enchanted doll eyes,
the outer rims are purple, the inner iris is aqua.
Anyone interested in finding out more about this type of eye, go HERE!

Yeah, she is just too cute.

Lighting Tutorial from Jointed Love

Hey everyone!

I just read a great little lighting tutorial over at
Jointed Love.

Click the image below to go to the Jointed Love blog:

Or click the link below to go directly to the Lighting Tutorial:

It's not super technical...
but what it does REALLY well
is go over equiptment you should have
for a very basic, everyone-can-do-it,
lighting setup in your own home
that will give you much more
professional looking lighting.

Now... if you want to know more about how to
set up your lights in your studio for portrait photography,
this is a decent site:
http://www.professionalphotography101.com/portrait_lighting/lighting_names.html
that explains some of the different types of
portrait lighting with diagrams of how to set up
your lights in regard to your subject.

Instagram Weekends: New Arrival

Are any of you guys on Instagram?
I kinda love it... not just because it's fun to post pictures,
but because it's kinda like a flickr-in-a-second.
I can follow people with similar interests,
and see their pics :)

Plus, it's a free phone app...
so on the weekends, it's a way easier way
to keep track of things!

This weekend, I'd like to introduce a new
resident here at the Majokko Shop:

Tiny Evil

Tiny Evil is a Fairyland RealPuki Popo... but you know what he (yes, he)
reminds me of?

A little bit he reminds me of Brian Froud illustrations:

But mostly...
The little blue aliens from Galaxy Quest:

... and you remember how else they looked, right?

EEEEK!!!!
I just have to not think about it too much...
but the Neemos should probably watch out
and I definitely shouldn't name any of the Neemos "Guy"! XD
(yes, I love the movie Galaxy Quest)

Thus why I call him Tiny Evil.
He likes to drink all my drinks...
which makes no sense... they're all bigger than him...
where does it all go???
(I just imagine him running around and marking his territory a lot... ew)

He's very tricksy!
He also thinks all the toys are for him.
He claimed everything I found at Goodwill on Friday.

He's been a stowaway more than once, even though he just got here...

And sometimes he just rolls around on the floor and giggles, which really weirds me out,
but alas, he keeps things interesting!

Claire, Claire with the bubblegum hair...

Meet Claire.
I was editing these photographs of her, looking at the profile pics of her, and it struck me,
her name is Claire.

She wanted to see the daffodils that Ella saw.
But she couldn't hide in the grass, and the flowers didn't speak to her the way they do to Ella.

"Oh well. I don't want to be an outdoorsy girl."

So she went back inside.

Then there was a noise outside.
"Heather, I hear something, put me in the window."

It was the neighbor's teenage daughter, driving away in her car.

"Ooooh, *I* want to be a Teenager!"

... oh god.
