I just have to share this link with you guys...
Enchanted Doll is having an ebay auction for her Cinderella...
©Enchanted Dolls/Marina Bychkova |
Now, Enchanted Dolls by Marina Bychkova are beautiful.
True works of art,
especially when she makes them one of the full clothing ensembles like this Cinderella gal has...
but man oh man...
there are still 5 and a half days to go,
and she's already been bid up to $40,000!!!
Granted, she started at $10,000...
but still...
this is going to be one of those insane, awesome auctions to watch.
My life would be so much easier if I had $40,000 to spend on ONE doll.
I can only imagine what kind of folks are bidding on this gal.
Hopefully more reliable ones than bid on my $50 dolls on ebay and then say
"Oh wait, no, someone was using my account without my permission."
(I've heard that excuse enough times for me to write it off as total BS now)
My husband and I could each get a new car for $40,000 0_0
I'm not going to lie, I'm curious to see if this doll sells for more than the price of our house.
Anyways,
I think it's seriously worth it to watch this auction,
for the sheer insanity of it all!
Plus, if you'd never heard of Marina Bychkova's dolls,
you should really check them out.
They really are works of art!
The doll is indeed beautiful, but over $40,000 -- insane! I think of things like my daughter's college education, car, house, nice trip etc! Anyway, it will definitely be interesting to see what her final price is.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I knew this auction would be too interesting to not share... I'm really curious what the final sale amount will be too! 0_0
DeleteI added her to my watch list, I'm curious to see how much the end bid will be! I really had to laugh when the sentence appeared: "Bid now so you can make a deal!", LOL! These dolls are magical indeed, but the buyers are more in the league of oil sheiks and royalty I think! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I would love to have this kind of money to throw around, but as it is, she costs more than I make in a year ;_;
DeleteI hate that kind of blurry face paint and expression to give a doll some glow, but her ensemble is drop dead gorgeous, still doesn't worth US$40K though!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, but see, if someone is willing to pay that much, she *is* worth it... that's how art works, it's in the eye (and wallet power) of the beholder!
DeleteWow.... (and up to $61,000 when looking at it now)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what else to say!
It is beautiful, I've never heard of Marina, I will definitely do some research.
Her dolls are very beautiful, although my favorite part of them is always the amazing clothes she makes... so much beautiful metal work and amazing hand beading... it would be interesting to know what ebay final fees are on an auction this big, LOL.
DeleteOMG! That's insane. The doll is beautiful and everything has taken hours to be finished, but $61,300 (that's the current bid) is a fortune. I'm wondering who are those people who is bidding for her. Anyway, it will be really interesting to see what her final price is, lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I wonder who these folks are too XD That's more than I make in a year.
DeleteI had to post about her for that very reason though, I thought it would be fun to see what her final price is.
I do think the price is insane, but I'm happy for the creator... what an awesome accomplishment to have gathered such a following to sell your pieces for so much.
Wow... As I'm writing this comment it has risen to over $60,000 o_o I'm really curious to see what her final price will end up being...
ReplyDeleteMe too! I had to share in the insanity! XD
DeleteWell that's way out of my price range! Sell a couple of those and you'd have a pretty nice yearly income.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? I think it's awesome that she's able to get these prices though... I always appreciate when hard artistic work is recognized... if you follow her blog and look at the amount of detailing she'll put in things, it's pretty amazing.
DeleteLove her work, and the detail in silver pieces is fabulous. It's now on $65,200.00 and good luck to her she's worked hard for it. Bet taxation will take a big bite of it though and eBay must be clapping their hands!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I didn't even think about taxation... I think she's living in Canada? I have no idea what their policies on this kind of thing are, or what their tax rates are... but yeah, it would be interesting to know what she gets to take home from this auction in the end!
DeleteWhat mostly blows me away is that there are people out there with enough cash to spend like this. As someone who is wondering if she'll even be able to really help put her child (who isn't even born yet) through college (what with sky-rocketing college prices, but not much by way of wage increases), it just blows my mind that someone can drop over $60K on a doll.
(or any piece of artwork for that matter)...
DeleteJust a bit of info - it was a Chinese buyer!
DeleteOK. she is now $65,200, amazing. I can't wait to see what the final bid will be. For that price, I could take at least a year off to just play with dolls. The costumes are just beautiful and I can certainly see the appeal of the doll (still couldn't justify the money though).
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm really excited to see what the end price is! It's why I just had to share this on the blog... plus, even though most of us don't do anything even close to Enchanted Doll's scale of artistic creation (I do not have any metal working skills, lol!)... I think it's inspiring to know that someone out there can create their entire living on making dolls and doll items.
Delete(one single person, that is... there are tons of companies that do this every day XD)
