Your Own Backyard

Sometimes an adventure awaits you in your own backyard!
You never know what you might find,

going out of your own back door!

Or maybe your "backyard" is somewhere in the house?

Or maybe you consider your backyard somewhere else all together?

Wherever, or whatever your backyard is,

this month is the month to have an adventure in it!

"What is it?" you ask?

The Adventurer's Club is a monthly photo challenge.

The "theme" for the month is vague enough that you can complete the task indoors if you're not a "drag your dolly out in public" kinda person.

ALL DOLL TYPES ARE WELCOME!

On the FIRST DAY of every month, I will reveal that month's theme.

There will be participation prizes...
these will be given out on a "number of months participated" basis.
There will be a 6 month and 12 month participation prize.

The months will be cumulative, because I know life happens and sometimes we might miss a month.
Although I'm thinking I might have to make an extra special prize for anyone who participates for 12 months straight!

Don't feel like you have to have a masterpiece photograph either,

snap the shot with your cell phone, a point and shoot or a pro camera,

it doesn't matter, just as long as the resulting image is theme related!

I've got to admit, I know nothing about these girls other than they make for awfully cute figma... -_-;;

These gals watch over me night and day... looking out for Kyubeys who might want to make a contract with me! Thank you, girls ;_;

 

These 4 are kinda my "Odd Girls Out"... they always seem to end up not grouped in with anyone.

I know nothing about the crying gal with pigtails... or about Lady... but they were both just too much fun to pass up!

I really wish they'd make a Rise figma... I should have bought more Persona figma!!!

 It's never good when Kirino has an idea...

seriously though, why have they not made more from this series... especially her brother?!

I often forget I have a Drossel figma... because she's grouped in with my other Drossel figures.

I've seen the Drossel animations, and I have to say, the figures of her seem much sweeter than Drossel herself... lol!

Here's another girl I know nothing about, story-wise.

I wish I'd bought more of the BRS gals... but I hadn't been into collecting figma when the first ones came out, so I missed out!

Figma #143 Yuzuriha Inori

I'm not going to lie,

I'm in love with this character's design,

but other than that,

know absolutely nothing about

Yuzuriha Inori from Guilty Crown.

I've never seen the show, don't have a clue what it's about...

and yet, I'm repeatedly drawn to this character.

Her Pink, gradient hair, her pink/orange color scheme, her bird-like motif

she's just cute.

She makes me think of a Phoenix.

Does this ever happen to any of you?

Are you drawn in by a character's image,

without knowing anything about the character itself?

Time for confession #2:

This is how I buy ALL of my figma.

I see a character design that I like,

I buy it.

I have yet to buy a figma based on the fact that

I *really* love the anime it's from.

Instead, I often buy the figure,

and then seek out the anime.

This particular figma I had resisted when she was first listed.

No idea why... I think I was trying to be responsible.

But then, just the other day, I saw she was back in stock...

someone must have not paid for their order...

so I snapped her up.

I do not regret it,

she's a great figma.

Excellent posing, 

each of her skirt tails are jointed,

and she's adorable.

I'm pretty sure I'll never bother trying to watch the anime she's from...

but that's fine with me.

I enjoy imagining her as some outer space diva

(the open mouth she comes with looks like it's singing to me)

She makes me think of RahXephon (an anime I have watched, lol)...

so that's where my mind categorizes her.

A-Hole Kirito

So, I think I need to explain...

or maybe I don't...

but I'm going to anyways XD

Kirito is the main character of an anime called

Sword Art Online.

Many, many, many people love this anime...

but a friend of mine does not.

Not at all.

So when I got my Kirito figma,

I promptly proceeded to turn him into

A-Hole Kirito

... it's kinda like his super hero name...

but needless to say,

he's not the greatest guy.

Or maybe he is...

if you're totally into A-holes?

A-Hole Kirito thinks people who have moves like Jagger are lame.

A-Hole Kirito's got moves like Jackson.

A-Hole Kirito *knows* he looks sexy in this windblown pose.

Don't try to deny it.

He is my first boy figma XD

His box is typical, nothing spectacular here:

He came in a triple layer plastic shell, which is awesome,

the bottom layer held his sword "slashes"

Kirito comes with two swords, extra hands, two alternate faces, and holsters
so that he can wear his swords on his back...

He also comes with "sword swipes"... action lines, if you will, lol!

It's unfortunate that I've been hearing the anime really goes downhill...

but oh well, Kirito is still a cutie!

Did I mention he's the only boy figma I own?

Sonico Figma

Let's take a look at figma!

Recently I got the Sonico figma,

so I thought I would share her box opening!

First up, let's get this out of the way:

WHO IS SONICO?

If you're in the anime figure/doll world,

you've seen this girl popping up everywhere.

I bought this figma because I thought she was cute...

but what is the character's history?

to find out... it's actually a pretty cute little history!

Now, on to the figma!

I buy my figma at www.hlj.com

Figma are 1/12 scale jointed plastic action figures with

interchangeable faces and parts.

They're a lot like mini-bjd!

Let's start with the box!

Here is how the figma will first come to you:

Front of box, as you can see, Sonico is the 169th figma to be made!

Back of box, showing off her accessories (ahem) and poses.

All figma come packed in these plastic pieces (that are not fused together like evil Barbie packaging),
the packaging holds all the pieces very carefully in place. It's a great system!

When you open a figma up, you might notice she's covered in plastic bits... don't worry!

That's just to keep the pieces from rubbing in transit,

they pull right off... usually without even having to take the figma apart!

Every figma I've ever gotten comes with extra hands and a stand,
as well as assembly instructions :)

Sonico came with 3 faces total, a hoodie version of her hair and a guitar.
Some figma come with more, some come with less :)

This may be silly, but one of my favorite things about figma is that they come with a bag

to store all the extra parts in.

Here's a little tip from me...
I put the extra faces in their own bag before putting them in the bigger bag, so they don't accidentally get marked by rubbing up against the other plastic pieces :)

Hah! Well... it's true. 

She also has quite a rack... if that's something that worries you, I assure you, Sonico is more well endowed than most of the figma. I suppose it should be noted, figma also come in "boy" flavor, LOL. (Like Link from Zelda, oh yes, I've preordered me a Link!)

Uhm... I don't recall Sonico's character description saying she was insane... -_-;;

Ah yes, that's much more in-line with her bio!
